Vienna 2017

Date: 17.04.2017 – 21.04.2017
Place: Vienna

Since my travel buddy and I had a week off during Easter holiday, we decided to escape our everyday life for one week. Actually, we had to study during this week. But I think our agreement to study during our train rides was a good compromise. haha

After a train journey of seven hours, we arrived at the Vienna main station. Considering our tiredness caused by travel, we decided to take a quick nap. In the late evening, we went for a walk and grabbed some food. Despite the rain, we decided to discover Vienna by night. We took the metro to Karlsplatz and started our adventure from there. First, we got the chance to admire the impressive Karlskirche, which shined and presented its magnificence. Later, we walked through few streets, to get familiar with the Viennese streets. But soon enough, we realized that it wasn’t the best idea, to go out for a walk on a raining evening. It was too cold and we were wet from head to toe. So we went back to the hotel and went to bed.

The next morning, we grabbed our coffee and went straightly to the Museum Square. From there we walked our way through some attractions of Vienna. Starting with the National Library, we continued with the Hofburg Palace, the City Hall of Vienna, the University of Vienna, the St. Peter’s Cathedral and at the end our adventure with the Naschmarkt. There I enjoyed coconut water, even though I was freezing. haha.

During the sightseeing, we took a break for Lunch at Fiegelmüller. The best Schnitzel I’ve ever had! In the afternoon we enjoyed a sightseeing tour on the Ring Tram. Later we had some coffee at an AIDA Coffee Shop. On this evening I started getting ill. I sneezed after every 5 seconds and I’m not exaggerating at all! Actually, we expected warmer temperatures. But the snow surprised us at the end of April! So this night I went to bed quite early.

Nothing can stop a woman from shopping, right? Although I was still ill, I decided to go shopping. So we went to the Marialifer Steet. The first things we got there, were medicines. Haha. For lunch, we decided to try a restaurant called LeBurger. The burgers there are really tasty and you get also low carb burgers. For dessert, I had some cute mini pancakes with blueberries. We finished shopping, visited the Stephansdom and had dinner at the hotel. The late evening, we spent on the top of the Donau Tour. The view was ineffable! And the restaurant actually rotated, so that was very cool!

On the third morning in Vienna, we decided to go for a walk in the Parc of the Belvedere Palace. This palace with its whole environment is so pretty! However, it was way too cold outside so we went back to the hotel. After we were able to feel our bodies again, we left for the Schönbrünn Palace. But we couldn’t bear this cold weather and spent the afternoon in the hotel.

As it is the tradition of my travel bubby and me, to go for a fancy dinner on our last night abroad, we went to a lobster restaurant called Crazy Lobster. After one hour I finished the half of the lobster and it took a lot of patience. But it was totally worth the time and money!

On the last day, we slept in, got some coffee and then took the train at 12.00 back to Switzerland. I will definitely go back to this charming city but next time, in summer! haha
